What To Expect At SMNC
What We Believe

At St. Maries Nazarene Church, we want to pave the way for you to feel comfortable and welcome when you visit. We dress casually and offer a time of fellowship with coffee and donuts during each service. You will be greeted and welcomed by friendly faces when you arrive and when you leave.

St. Maries Nazarene Church History

SMNC began July 17, 1921 with 15 members on the corner of 9th and Jefferson. In 1976, the church purchased 10 acres of ground from Dr. Sullivan overlooking the St. Maries River. It can be seen from almost anywhere in the valley. Under the leadership of Pastor Ron Wells, and a dedicated group of a hundred members, the present building was built and dedicated in September, 1979. Attendance stayed around 150 for several years.

The current pastor, Dan Swan, was called to St. Maries in 1986 after pastoring for 10 years in Pierce, Idaho. In 2001, due to growth, the church went to double services. The church has an approximate attendance of 325 on a typical Sunday.

These are the beliefs we hold to be true:

We believe in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.

We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
